Home Made Salsa for Game Day

Need a snack for the big game? Don't have a lot of time, but have access to some veggies? This is the trick! We love to make homemade salsa and pico de gallo. Check out the video here!

You will need:

5-8 Medium Tomatoes

2 Jalapenos

1 White Onion

1/4 cup Cilantro

2 tsp Lemon Juice

2 tsp Salt

To make:

Clean, remove stems and coarsely chop tomatoes. Clean, remove stems and seeds and coursely chop jalapenos as well. Peel and coursely chop the white onion. Put the cilantro, tomatoes, jalapenos, and white onion into the food processor, followed by the lemon juice and salt. (If there is not enough room in your food processor for all of the ingredients, you can chop the tomatoes separately from the other ingredients and then combine them later). After all coarsely chopped ingredients have been put in the food processor, lightly pulse the chopper several times until the entire mixture is evenly chopped to the desired consistency. If you chop everything without pulsing, you will create a more liquid salsa. The more you pulse or mix in the food processor , the smaller your ingredients will be. We typically leave the pieces a bit chunkier for Pico de Gallo.

Now is the time to place the salsa mixture in the refrigerator until the mixture has time to chill and to allow flavors to combine. When it is time for the party, place it in a bowl and enjoy it with your favorite chips or on tacos, tostadas or use in any other recipe that calls for salsa or Pico de Gallo.

You can also chop up some fresh avocados to add to the mixture for another variation. This adds some additional freshness and can also help to balance the heat from the jalapeños.

Enjoy!
