Air Dry Baking Soda & Cornstarch Dough for Crafting

Updated: Feb 6, 2023

Want to make a quick air-dry clay? Here is the how-to recipe that can be used to make all types of great craft projects!

You will need the following:

2 cups baking soda

1 cup cornstarch

1 1/2 cups water

To make:

Mix cornstarch and baking soda in a medium saucepan. Add water and mix until completely combined. Turn on the heat to medium-low and stir continuously until the mixture thickens and forms a dough ball. Remove from heat. Put the dough in a separate bowl and cover with damp paper towels until cool enough to touch. Knead the dough for a couple of minutes until smooth using extra cornstarch to prevent sticking as needed. Store in a sealed plastic bag covered with a damp paper towel until ready to use.

This dough can be used to create any number of fun items such as ornaments, pendants, jewelry, trinkets/ring bowls, pinch pots, flowers, etc. Once dry, your creations can be painted, decorated, and sealed for durability. I have used acrylic and watercolors and typically use modge podge to seal once dry. I hope that you give it a try! ❤
